There are 2 battery feeds to the radio.

The Main one via the Ignition Switch . This is used to switch the radio ON

The other is a permanently connected battery feed that retains the radio memory features...ie..the code and the radio station settings.

It looks as though it is this permanent battery feed that is missing.

Check the fuses and the connectors/wiring at the rear of the radio

the fuse must be ok because it works maybe a wire is loose the one going to the battery

If this radio is from a completely different make (Rover) to the vehicle it is being fitted into (Vauxhall/GM ) then it will most likely be using a different wiring arrangement in the wiring harness.

They are not often directly interchangeable

One solution is to run a separate wire as the permanent battery feed.
