Fiat Bravo lack of constant power to stereo

I have recently took out the factory fitted radio/cassette and put in a wharfdale CD/MP3 player.
Luckily all the audio works fine BUT there is no constant power to the unit when ignition is turned off and key removed.
Normally there should be a red flashing light (alarm deterrent)
When I turn ignition on all the settings radio/balance etc are back to factory setting.
I have 2 `spare` wires from the old head unit that were attached to a little green block (in between a blue and yellow block). The 2 wires here are black and red/white striped. At the moment they are attached to nothing.
Hope this makes sense I am new to all this!
