You may be using the wrong code.
Make sure you are quoting the correct Serial Number as any numbers found in car documents , audio guides etc. are often incorrect.
Sometimes pressing buttons 6 & 1 together or 6 & 2 will display this number
Otherwise remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing

When I enter correct code then hit 5 to enter the radio goes dark, switches off and comes back on with CODE---- again. Any idea what would cause this or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

M581563 = 3627 which is correct

Try Pressing 6 to store the code.

If not then there is not a lot more that can be suggested.

It will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service ....or buy a replacement radio with a working code
