  • Megane radio code no longer works

    Hi,

The code for my 2000 Megane Coupe built in radio does not work. My battery went flat and I had to jump start the car then replace the battery. Just after this the alarm went haywire and seemed to be broken, now the radio won't accept my code. Any ideas how to resolve this?

Could the jump start have zapped the non volatile memory for the radio code? If so any idea what the code would be? The unit type is FD 2006.

I'm going nuts driving around with no radio!!

    Thanks in advance!

    Ross

Are you sure that your code is the correct one?

Let me have the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS,BARCODES and STAMPED IN THE METAL CASE and I`ll see if I can check it.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply but it is definitely the right code. I've used it a couple of times before. That's what is confusing me, why it doesn't work now.

      Thanks,

      Ross

        Thanks,

The cause is normally one of the following

        1...Wrong Code

2...The radio is locked (Solution : Leave it SWITCHED ON ...UNDISTURBED until it resets itself automatically )

3...Incorrect method of entering Code into radio.

        4...Faulty memory chip (EEPROM)

        5...Other radio fault

        If it`s not 1 or 2 or 3 then it may be 4 or 5 ....so it`s a a visit to a radio repair specialist .

Before you do that , try a "reboot"...Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes , replace ...then enter your code again.

I suspect it's the EEPROM chip but I think that the disconnecting the battery is worth trying before taking it to a garage. Given the way that these things work it might be worth trying some obvious codes like 9999 before I do so.

          Thanks.

It won`t be any good just trying random codes as you have already said that you have the correct code.

Let me check that code byletting me have all the radio details as requested .(also quote the code you are using)

I have found in the past that the majority of problems are due to 1 , 2 or 3 as mentioned.

Well, I managed to get the radio to work. Tried the battery disconnect etc and that didn't help. Turns out the code I had from the dealer was wrong - I had the radio decoded and it now works.

              Thanks for all the help.

                ,

which was obviously not strictly true as the code did not work !

You might have saved yourself the visit+cost to a decoder if you`d taken my advice and got me to check this code checked for free.

It really is important to make sure you provide all the correct information.

In this case , your code was NOT correct .

As I also said in the previous answer , this problem is normally 1 , 2 or 3

Repeated below....and is worth remembering for everyone else seeking advice !
