unlock code ??

I've just bought a puma 1.7 on a 02 plate but the radio is asking for a unlock code which is in the booklet that came with the car....but it will not except the code.
Please could you help !! the serial Number in the book is M002171

that's the code that came with the car...it wont take that code. :-(
Do'es that mean the radio has been changed at some point do you think?

Make sure you are quoting the correct Serial Number as any numbers found in car documents , audio guides etc. are often incorrect.

Sometimes pressing buttons 6 & 1 together or 6 & 2 will display this number

Otherwise remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing
